Walkabout Resources Commissioning On Track At The Lindi Jumbo Graphite Mine

The first ore feed to the entire processing circuit is expected before the end of the current quarter. The Company’s product offtake partner Wogen Pacific is in advanced negotiations with end customers for Lindi Jumbo concentrate.

By Mr Andrew Cunningham:

Walkabout Resources Ltd (ASX: WKT) provides an update on the construction and commissioning activities at the Lindi Jumbo Graphite Mine in Tanzania.

After the successful feed of graphite ore through the crushing circuit in early January (refer ASX Announcement of 2 January 2024), the Company is progressing towards the next milestone of wet commissioning. The first ore feed through the entire mine processing circuit is on track for completion within the next month.

Key Highlights:

  • Receipt of all essential outstanding equipment on-site for installation.
  • Wet commissioning, including first ore through the complete processing circuit, planned within the next month.
  • Power Control Centre (PCC) connected to grid power to facilitate the completion of dry commissioning for all outstanding circuits.
  • Completion of hiring and induction processes for the majority of leadership and support teams.
  • Approval of critical support contracts.
  • Support facilities, including the camp, prepared for first production.

Commenting on the progress, Managing Director & CEO of Walkabout Resources Andrew Cunningham stated, “As we pioneer the start-up of a new graphite mining operation in Tanzania, I am proud of our team and contractors for their dedication throughout the construction process. Our commissioning activities are progressing well, and I am confident in our timeline to begin feeding high-grade graphite ore through the entire circuit.”

Despite logistical challenges due to ongoing shipping delays, the mine remains on schedule to meet development milestones, ensuring safety and operative compliance.

Once commissioning activities conclude, the Lindi Jumbo Graphite Mine will become the first modern, large-scale graphite mine in Tanzania and the first critical minerals asset in the country to achieve full production.

Shipping Update

While port congestion persists, all essential mechanical and electrical equipment necessary for wet commissioning has been received on-site. Smaller consignments are still pending delivery, including backup generators and consumables. Contingency plans are in place to manage any further delays.

Processing Plant Construction and Commissioning Status

The recent receipt of critical plant equipment will enable the completion of minor construction and installation works concurrently with commissioning activities. All rectification works have been addressed, and post-construction QA/QC testing has been completed.

First Ore Feed On Track

With construction and commissioning activities proceeding as planned, the first ore feed to the entire processing circuit is expected before the end of the current quarter.

Product Sales Outlook

Wogen Pacific (Wogen), the Company’s product offtake partner, is in advanced negotiations with end customers for Lindi Jumbo concentrate. Once compliance with product specifications during the ramp-up period is confirmed, regular orders for supply are anticipated.
