Pioneer Lithium Commences Rare Earth Drilling In Highly Prospective Bahia, Brazil

Pioneer Lithium (ASX: PLN) has kicked a off short, sharp shallow drilling program in a section of its Verde Valor Rare Earth tenements in Bahia state in Brazil.

The company is a recent addition to the ASX in August 2023, focusing on critical minerals exploration.

At a negligible cost, the 30-hole auger drilling campaign will test a 300-metre section at the prospect of Rare Earth at depths of up to 20 metres.

A site visit was completed which confirmed the presence of highly weathered saprolite clays.

This presented a favourable geological setting for critical mineral discoveries. A radiometric anomaly found that the location may coincide with REE-rich mineralised zones.

The project site is located near Morro do Chapéu and Tapiramutá City in Bahia, Brazil.

It is close to abundant local infrastructure, with well-maintained state highways and access to power and water.

Lithium tenements in Ontario, Canada

The main game for the company is its tenements in Ontario, Canada which are prospective for lithium.

Operational activities focused on a desktop analysis of the completed Root Lake fieldwork campaign data before the winter snow melt. A phase two is in the offing.

The previous quarter’s fieldwork campaign at Root Lake discovered a total 89 pegmatite outcrops.

This included mineralised outcrops along strike from known lithium deposits held by ASX-listed Green Technology Metals (ASX: GT1).

The company also received some promising assays from early-stage channel sampling work conducted at the newly acquired Benham project in Ontario.

Benham project

Results from the 40-metre-long spodumene-bearing pegmatite discovered returned grades up to 4.61% Li2O in the northwest corner of the project area.

The Benham Project comprises 30 claims covering approximately 1,245ha.

The project is about 70km west of Critical Resources’ (ASX: CRR) Mavis Lake Lithium Project,

It comprised over 20 LCT (Lithium-Caesium-Tantalum) pegmatites related to the Ghost Lake Batholith.

Of interest, the company is also reviewing potential acquisitions.

The company held cash of about $2 million at 31 March 2024.
