Northern Minerals Drilling Hits High-Grade Rare Earth At Wolverine

Northern Minerals Ltd (ASX: NTU) has received high-grade rare earth assays from drilling at its Browns Range Heavy Rare Earth (HRE) Project.

The project is located ~160 kilometres southeast of the town of Halls Creek in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

Initial assays from the ongoing mineral resource definition drilling program at the Wolverine deposit include:

  • 15.6 metres at 9.99% TREO (total rare earth oxides) from 428.20 metres;
  • 36 metres at 3.39% TREO from 396.00 metres; and
  • 20.1 metres at 4.28% TREO from 351.90 metres.

Wide, high-grade intersections

Initial assays have confirmed consistent wide and high-grade mineralised intervals across strike and down plunge, with mineralisation remaining open at depth.

NTU Executive Chairman Nicholas Curtis said: “These results materially increase confidence in the development of the Wolverine deposit as the first mine within the larger Browns Range system.”

Significantly, structural data analysis has informed the development of a new deformation intensity spatial model for the first time.

This new structural association model, through successful application, will inform the upcoming resource estimate, and assist with future exploration targeting.

Re-evaluation of mine plan

NTU’s drilling program targets the deeper inferred resource, aspiring to upgrade it to an indicated resource.

The program is targeting a resource of ~1.99 million tonnes at 1.25% TREO for 24,900 tonnes contained TREO.

Completion of the ~17,000-metre drilling program is anticipated in mid-May.

This will then allow for a consequential re-evaluation of NTU’s mine plan, due in the fourth quarter of this calendar year.

NTU had cash of A$24.3 million on 31 December 2023.
