Litchfield Minerals Confirms Fertile Base Metal System At West Arunta

Litchfield Minerals Ltd (ASX:LMS) has confirmed the discovery of intrusion-related base metal sulphides near surface at the Silver King prospect, situated within the Mount Doreen Project in West Arunta.

During its maiden campaign, the company identified widespread distribution of these sulphides – an early indication of a fertile system.

Notably, the results highlight the potential to demonstrate scale and higher-grade mineralisation at the project, says the company.

“This heralds an exciting phase of discovery at Mount Doreen, where 70-80% of the area remains underexplored due to shallow sand cover, presenting substantial opportunities and potential upside for both the project and our shareholders.” said MD and CEO Matthew Pustahya

Results highlights

Litchfield’s drill program comprised 1,769 metres of combined diamond and reverse circulation programs across the Silver King, Mount Irene and Copper Flats prospects.

Standout assays at Silver King to date include:

  • 15 metres at 0.23% copper, 0.31% zinc, 762ppm lead, 4.8g/t silver, 0.02g/t gold from 20 metres; and
  • 9 metres at 0.11% copper, 0.28% zinc, 363ppm lead, 1.27 g/t silver from 25 metres.

Furthermore, Assays from 10 other drill holes are still outstanding from Silver King, Mount Irene and Copper Flats and will be reported to the market as they are received.

“Aligned with our strategic focus on rapid ground validation, we have now concluded our initial drill campaign which consisted of six Diamond Drill holes at Silver King, four RC holes at Mount Irene and two RC holes at Copper Flats,” said Pustahya.

Forward plan

Currently, Litchfield is partnering with PGN Geoscience to develop a detailed lithostructural interpretation for the Mount Dorren tenement.

This initiative will integrate Litchfield’s newly acquired aeromagnetic data with all open-source geophysical and historical exploration.

Consequently, this data will develop a fully integrated structural and metallogenic model for the project.

This model will help define various mineral targets under the extensive shallow cover and will provide a framework for Litchfield’s exploration strategy.

Additionally, the company is considering completing a tenement-wide VTEM survey to help identify basement sulphide conductors (semi-massive to massive base metal sulphides) and to further strengthen the lithostructural interpretation.
