Ionic Rare Earths Delivers Another Milestone At Makuutu As First Production Looms

Ionic Rare Earths Ltd (ASX: IXR) is currently transitioning to become a miner, refiner, and recycler of sustainable and traceable magnet and heavy rare earths from the Makuutu Rare Earths Project in Uganda.

Makuutu remains the most advanced ionic adsorption clay project in development today with products not committed to China.

The company has completed the construction and commissioning of Phase 1 at its technical facility and demonstration plant at the project.

This delivers another milestone as the first production of mixed rare earth carbonate fast approaches.

Makuutu’s basket contains 71% magnet and heavy rare earths content and is moving towards providing a new source to supply chains emerging across Europe, the U.S., and Asia.

Ionic Rare Earths owns 60% of Makuutu, moving to 94% in Q1 2024.

The project is well-supported by existing tier-one infrastructure.
